As usual, The Memorial Day service was super. We couldn't have asked for a better day weatherwise.
Mayor Duignam welcomed all of us shortly after 1PM on Monday:
It wouldn't be Memorial Day in Tatamy without Joe McHale singing "In Flanders Fields". Thanks Joe!
Ralph Romano provided the musical accompaniment. Thanks Ralph!
Boy Scout Troop 78, Awanas 2314, Brownie Troop 882 lead us with the Pledge of Allegiance and the placed of the Memorial Wreath:
Nathan Werkheiser read "It Was Our Veterans" (helped out a bit by Mayor Duignam):
SGT Phil Cohen (our only Marine Corps representative this year) told us a bit of his tour of duty in Vietnam. Did you know that Phil received a Silver Star, Bronze Star, Vietnamese Cross for Gallantry and TWO Purple Hearts?:
Here are some other shots from the day:
Our Police Chief (and Air Force Veteran) - George Achenbach (another shutterbug - HA!):
The Doughboy:
Tatamy's Veterans (what a motley looking bunch :-):
The only "disappointment" if there could be one was the amount of people who came to show their support. It seems that every year fewer and fewer people come to the service, and that's a disappointment. Hopefully we can get the word out next year and get some more folks to come and salute our veterans.
